Welcome on this photoblog. There are numerous photos. I try to add one picture per day meaning that some are good and others are not depending on my daily mood. There are several ways for exploring the website: chronologically, but also by themes: just click on one of the labels. Also pages only give a certain number of posts. Do not forget to click on "older post" at the bottom of each page. nahizphotos @ googlemail.com

Spirit World
Location : Ste Thérèse, Le Moulleau, Bassin d'Arcachon, France
Changes : Blurring a lot, Contrast a lot
This is a shot of the mirror. I took it with a very short exposure. Then on the computer, I passed from 8 bits (256 channels in each colour) to 16 (more than 65,000) bits. This was to avoid having a problem with the colours. In 8 bits, as I was saturating the whites, only a few colours would have remained creating big areas from place to place. In 16 bits I then increased the contrast and blurred everything because I was too grainy. Then I reduced to 8 bits and blurred a bit to prevent again from having large areas of the same colour.
This should have rotated by 90°, but by leaving it like this I add a more dramatic effect, that of Paulette's ghost, of which I was talking about yesterday.

Paulette's Bedroom
Location : Ste Thérèse, Le Moulleau, Bassin d'Arcachon, France
Changes : Contrast a bit and some blurring to take away some of the grain.
This is the room I sleep in most of the times I go to the Moulleau. It used to be Paulette's room. Paulette was cooking all the meals in earlier times. I have never met her. She died in the Summer and my grandma doing some rice pudding once said, "oh ! it does just exactly has when Paulette was doing it". Paulette's ghost seemed to have come back to help doing rice pudding, well that gave me ideas of photos to take.

Meuh
Location : Swiss Jura, Canton de Vaud, Switzerland
Changes : Contrast, slightly
This was taken during a walk int he Jura Swiss. It was wonderful, flowers everywhere. I was so enthoused, that I finally did take any pictures really. Only that one, 10 minutes before coming back to the car. It was fun looking for that cow, we could hear the bells, but could not see anythings, there were trees everywhere.

A Non-Swiss Attitude
Location : Jetée des Eaux Vives, Geneva, Switzerland
Changes : Contrast
There are several cruise boats on the Lac Léman, all built at the start of the 20th century. They stop here and there at piers in nearby villages, or in Geneva and almost every time, there is a group of children jumping in the water, grasping the bars behind the big wheel and let themselves transported as far as they can hold the bar. Something that somehow did not quite fit with the Swiss quietness but which was very peculiar to watch.

Cruise on the Léman
Location : Versoix Beach, Canton de Genève, Switzerland
Keywords : B&W, Lake
Changes : Saturation of blacks and whites, Contrast, Blurring a little
It was quite late when I took this picture, so there was not much contrast. Once increased, it gave this grainy aspect, which I reduced a bit by blurring. This was kind of intended, as it gives to the picture some texture and also an oldish look.

Jura Coloré
Location : Observatoire de Genève, Switzerland
Changes : Contrast
Right in fron of the observatory, there is this gap in the mountains, which, combined with skies coloured thanks to sunset, gives a very nice scene. There are many that I missed which were more impressive, like a blood-red sky in the background.

Turkish Baths
Location : Observatoire de Genève, Switzerland
Changes : Saturation of blacks and of the whites, very heavily (well the picture was very little contrasted, I had taken too long an exposition time.
From my office. If you look closer, you will see tens of birds in the clouds. These are called Milan. They were using the heat pump created with the clouds to go higher in the sky.
Increasing contrast, deteriorated a bit the photo (the poor jpeg format too, but that is to make it easier to upload and download), making an effect of oldishness in it.

The Road that Goes Through the Farm
Location : Canton de Genève, Switzerland
Changes : Contrast, slightly
The photo was taken from the limit between Vaud and Genève. The Road goes through this farm and immediatly after there is a little path to reach the observatory. This is the end of my "road trip to the nearest supermarket". There were 66 photos in light black and white originally and I published a selection of them, in colour here over the past days.

Promised Land
Location : Canton de Vaud, Switzerland
Changes : Saturation of whites and blacks
Taken on the way back from the supermarket, towards the French Jura and the setting Sun. What appears to be the sky in fact isn't. There was a bit of mist between me and the Jura. Because of scattering of the light in the mist, the mountains are hidden. (if I had taken a wider field we could have seen them as dark shadows against an almost white sky.
