Welcome on this photoblog. There are numerous photos. I try to add one picture per day meaning that some are good and others are not depending on my daily mood. There are several ways for exploring the website: chronologically, but also by themes: just click on one of the labels. Also pages only give a certain number of posts. Do not forget to click on "older post" at the bottom of each page. nahizphotos @ googlemail.com

Forward to the Past
Location: Home, Angers, France
Changes: Contrast, slightly
I had not realised that The Gimp was installed on my parents' computer, otherwise I would posted more. On Christmas Day, I somehow got an idea. My parents had this old camera. When I say old, it is old, maybe start of 19th century of something like that. It does not work anymore but the optics is still in "good" shape, meaning you can still see through. I applied my aunt's camera (Canon 3SIS) in front of the eyepiece of this antiquity and I got a few shots including today's.

Location : Harbour, St Andrews, Scotland
Changes: Contrast of the whole picture, unsaturation of some colours
After nearly 3 weeks of interruption I can now resume uploading. There might be some further interruptions in the future which I hope will not be as long as this one was.

Interlude
Due to computer failure, I am no longer able to record and process photos. Hopefully, I will be able to resume in a short while. Cross fingers.

Astronomy Domine!
Location : Outer Space
Changes : Contrast, blurring
Dedicated to Maman, who usually doe not like my B&W photos and who particularly distastes abstract work.
Surprising? I won't tell where or how it was taken. The only indication is that it was not with my camera, but with another one, much more powerful.
Shared copyright with Thomas Robitaille.

Crail's Lane
Location: Crail's Lane, St Andrews, Scotland
Changes: quite complex here.
I played a bit with different colour filters trying to make a nice colour picture. I took that photo because it was a little bit misty in that lane and a sunray was visible. I did all the changes trying to enhance it but did not manage. Instead, I got a strange coloured shot which when it was put in B&W gave what you have now. I shall try again.

College Street
Location : From the South Window of the tower, St Andrews, Scotland
Changes : Contrast, a bit
This is maybe the most beautiful proper street of the inner St Andrews (there are little wynds that have more charm). Only old houses from the 17th century and maybe one or two from late 19th. Pedestrian and covered in cobble stones.

Peeping Through the Window
Location: From the bells chamber, St Salvator's tower, St Andrews, Scotland
Changes : Contrast, a lot
This is a view towards the North. We can see the Art History department's roofs just before the sea. The trees are growing at the back of St Salvator's Lawn and on the Scores.
The big "windows" on the tower are covered by a metallic fence probably to avoid pigeon to live inside. I played with them, the reason of the crossed back shapes.

Up my Realm
Location : In the St Salvator's Tower, St Andrews, Scotland
Changes : Contrast, very slightly.
I am captain of St Salvator's Tower, which does not mean much except that I am in charge of ringing the bells and I hold the keys of the tower, from the very bottom to the very top. My secret Kingdom.

Ya Stop Hear Yoar Bloudy Frenchman
Location : Physics & Astronomy Department, St Andrews, Scotland
Changes : Contrast
At the start of las week, there was a power cut in the department which prevented us from having classes on Monday. I went there as part of my job as photographer of the student newspaper.
The second photo was published in the issue 107 (26 October 2006) of "The Saint"

Location : from the top of the tower, St Andrews, Scotland
Changes : Contrast
Another view of St Andrews, the West Sands beach alongside which are the links, where golf was invented. Further on, there is the Eden estuary, then the Tenstmuir forest, and the Firth of Tay and behind it Dundee.

Scooniehill 3
Location : Top of St Salvator's Tower, St Andrews, Scotland
Keywords : Landscape, Clouds, Trees
Changes : Contrast
I will try to take roughly the same picture every week. I hope to have over a long period of time an evolution of weather and agricultural life around that little wood on top of Scooniehill

Direction: To the Edge of the World
Location : From the Top of St Salvator's Tower, St Andrews, Scotland
Changes : Huge increase of contrast
Being a foggy day, only a small part of the colour spectrum was used so I needed to increase contrast quite alot which in a way was a good thing. When I took the shot I was wishing for something a bit mystical, which I think kind of a appeared with the shadow of the lens' edge on the photo.

Badland Park
Location : Nameless park, South of St Andrews, Scotland
Changes : Contrast, slightly
Almost all the residential area south of Watson Avenue in St Andrews is usually called "The Badlands". Linving in the deepest part of that strange realm I can say that is not that bad. What is most impressive is the amount of little hidden footpaths winding between houses and creating many a shortcut and alternative path to lectures. And sometimes one can find a park between the houses, only reachable through one of these path. It is wonderful, quiet and well maintained.

Spider Web
Location : Horseleys Park, St Andrews, Scotland
Changes : Contrast, a little
This was taken on my way to the University. There is a 15 to 20 minutes walk depending on how quick (aka how late) we are. On that morning a week or so ago, there was a lot of dew and still a lot of spiders around. It was a pity I did not have time to take more pictures, there were great shots to be taken on that morning.
